DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS

Brittany Yann (she/her/hers) is the Director of Development and Communications at Just Homes, where she leads strategic fundraising and communications to advance the organization’s mission. With nearly a decade of experience in nonprofits, Brittany leverages her skills to strengthen both organizations and the communities they serve. As the child of Cambodian refugees, she witnessed firsthand the economic hardships her community faced upon arriving in Oakland, including overcrowded housing shared by multiple families, poor living conditions, and discrimination—all of which intensified financial strain and contributed to persistent housing insecurity and economic instability. This experience drives Brittany’s deep commitment to ensuring every Oakland resident can live happily and comfortably in a stable home.

Prior to joining Just Homes’ staff, Brittany served on the organization’s Board of Directors, supporting nonprofit governance, fundraising initiatives, and event planning. She also brings professional experience from known Bay Area institutions such as The Greenlining Institute and KQED. Brittany holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with certifications in Public Relations and Nonprofit Management from Boise State University.

Outside of work, Brittany is passionate about exploring food cultures and cooking, connecting with her community through shared meals, and enjoying life in Oakland. You’ll often find her walking around Lake Merritt, perusing farmers’ markets, or spoiling her beloved senior cat, Casper.
